General Election Forum:

Two forums featuring candidates and issues on the Nov. 8 general election ballot were taped Sept. 29 and will be replayed on CityCable 5, the City of Spokane’s government-access cable station. LWVSA organizes and moderates the forums in partnership with CityCable 5 as part of an ongoing service to provide area voters with current information on candidates and ballot issues.

Forum I     titled "City Election Forum," will include candidates for Mayor, Council President, and Council -one position from each Council District. Replay --

• Saturday, Oct. 1, at 9 p.m.

• Wednesday, Oct. 5, at 7 p.m.

• Wednesday, Oct. 12, 6:30 p.m.

• Saturday, Oct. 15, at 4 p.m.

• Tuesday, Oct. 18, at 8:30 p.m.

• Sunday, Oct. 23, at 3:30 p.m.

• Tuesday, Oct. 25, at 11 a.m.

• Monday, Oct. 31, at 10:30 a.m.

Forum II --"School Board/Ballot Issues" includes candidates for an open board position for Spokane Public Schools as well as coverage of state and local ballot  issues. Replay times:

• Sunday, Oct. 2, at noon.

• Wednesday, Oct. 5 at 8:30 p.m.

• Wednesday, Oct. 12, at 12:30 p.m.

• Saturday, Oct. 15, at 2 p.m.

• Tuesday, Oct. 17, at 11 a.m.

• Sunday, Oct. 23, at noon.

• Saturday, Oct. 29, at noon.

The forums are available on-line about a week after the taping date in the CityCable 5 program archives at:

Click on "Other Video Programs" - select the forums. Join Leaguers and guests at October unit meetings to discuss these ballot issues that will be on the Nov. ballot.

State of Washington:

• I-1125 concerning state expenditures on transportation

• I-1163 concerning long-term care workers and services for elderly and disabled people.

• I-1183 concerning liquor: beer, wine, and spirits

• SJR 8205 - constitutional amendment to repeal an inoperative provision regarding the length of time a voter must reside in Washington to vote for president and vice president.

• SJR 8206 - constitutional amendment on the budget stabilzation account maintained in the state treasury.

           Spokane County Measure #1 concerning Animal Control

           City of Spokane Proposition #1 on a Community Bill of Rights.
